His daughter, Yasmin, was diagnosed with long term Lyme disease at 19, and her ongoing battle with the condition drives John’s commitment to raising awareness and support.

In 2024, John completed a demanding Atlantic crossing as part of a fourman crew, raising over £100,000 for . He now leads with the same determination and compassion, guiding the team with purpose and an unwavering focus on the cause at the heart of their journey

When not rowing, John is a jeweller in the National Trust village of Lacock.
